Privacy Policy

CalcuNow ("the app") is made by Jack in the Byte, an independent developer ("we", "us"). This policy explains what data the app handles. The short version: your photos, videos and passcode stay on your phone, encrypted. We don't run any server that receives them, and we don't require an account.
1. Data that stays on your device
The following is stored only on your phone, and we never receive it:
- Vault contents — photos and videos you import or capture, encrypted with AES-256. The encryption key is kept in your phone's secure storage (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore) and never leaves the device.
- Your passcode(s) — stored only as a one-way cryptographic hash.
- Break-in photos — if you enable this feature, a front-camera photo taken after a wrong code, stored encrypted in the vault.
- Settings — for example your currency choices and security options.
Backups are files you create yourself, encrypted with a password you choose. You decide where to save them (for example iCloud Drive or Google Drive); that storage is governed by the provider you pick.
2. Permissions and why we ask

3. Third-party services
The app uses these services. Each receives only what is described here:
- Google AdMob (free version only) — shows ads inside the vault screens. AdMob may collect device identifiers (such as the advertising ID), IP address, and ad-interaction data to serve and measure ads. Where required (for example in the EU/UK), we ask for your consent first, and you can choose non-personalized ads. How Google uses data. Premium users see no ads.
- RevenueCat — processes in-app purchases and subscriptions. It receives purchase and subscription status tied to a random, anonymous app user ID, plus basic device information. RevenueCat privacy policy.
- Apple App Store / Google Play — handle all payments. We never see your payment details.
- Exchange-rate service (open.er-api.com) — the calculator downloads public currency rates. Like any website request, this reveals your IP address to that service; no personal data is sent.
4. What we don't do
- We don't sell your personal information.
- We don't upload, view, scan or analyse your photos or videos.
- We don't require an account, email address or phone number.
- We don't use analytics or tracking beyond the ad and purchase services listed above.
5. Your choices and rights
- Deleting data: delete items or albums in the app, or delete the app to remove the vault and its key from your phone. We hold no copy.
- Ads: you can reset or limit your advertising ID in your phone's settings, or remove ads with Premium.
- Requests: depending on where you live (for example under GDPR or California law) you may have rights to access or delete personal data. Because we don't hold vault data, most requests are fulfilled by your device; for data held by AdMob or RevenueCat, contact us and we'll help, or use their tools linked above.
6. Children
CalcuNow is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
7. Security
We use strong, standard encryption and keep the key on your device. No system is perfectly secure: if you forget your passcode or lose your phone without a backup, we cannot recover your data.
8. Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the effective date above. Significant changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
